Section 5 - Visits and Visitors

      All trips and outings are well planned and appropriate child staff ratios are maintained.  They make use of local facilities and they enrich the learning for the children. The trips are evaluated in depth to ensure that the aims of the trip have been met. Parent consent is always sought prior the large outings and they are kept well informed about these.  They complete risk assessments and ensure the venue is suitable for the age/stage of development of the children and the number of children that are expected to go. They complete a list of staff and children who are going on the trip, and have regular head counts. All the staff have an awareness of health and safety issues when on trips.  Visitors are encouraged into the nursery and again the evaluation of these visits takes into account the children’s enjoyment etc. All trips, visitors and outdoor activities in the nursery were part of the curriculum.
